Let's "Break The Ice" at Rockford Speech

Summer is almost over and the new school year is almost here! Very soon I'll be doing some ice-breaker activities with my kiddos. So, to get into the Back-To-School spirt, I decided to do some icebreakers so you can get to know me. My students actually love these and it gets them talking!

3 Get To Know Me Facts:

1. Huge language nerd:

I love languages! I even collect language books as a hobby and hope to learn as many languages as possible. I'm bilingual in Spanish but I have studied other languages as well, including - Sign Language, Navajo, Burmese, French and Kaqchikel. I studied Linguistics in college and my love of languages is what brought me to Speech Language Pathology. Being a Speech Therapist allowed me to combine my passion of languages and love of working with children. It was a perfect fit and I can't imagine doing anything else!

2. An Arizona girl:

I was born and raised in dry, hot Arizona. The same area that you're seeing all the horrible heat waves of 115 degrees right now. So the winter here in Michigan has been ... a challenge to say the least. I'm slowly adapting and I'm loving the weather right now!

3. Proud step-mom and dog mom:

I have two of the best step-"kids" in the world - Sam and Brady (they are both basically adults so they aren't really "kids") and I'm also a dog mom to four beautiful but crazy girls - Juno, Pipa, Zola and Stella.

Two Truths And A Lie:

  1. I hate the color pink.

  2. I can't cut in a straight line to save myself.

  3. I have a horrible fear of heights.

Would You Rather?

Would you rather live in a place where it is always hot or always cold?

- HOT, Definitely somewhere hot!

Would you rather control space or time?

-Time.

Would you rather wear clown shoes every day or a clown wig every day?

-Not a fan of clowns, but I would go with clown shoes.

Would you rather live on the beach or in a cabin in the woods?

-The beach. Love the beach.

Would you rather have to eat a bowl full of crickets or a bowl full of worms?

-Worms? Both gross.

Would you rather live in space or under the sea?

-Under the sea!

Would you rather have a unicorn horn or a squirrel tail?

-Unicorn horn. Had to go with this one. Huge shoutout to my super cute niece who is obsessed with anything and everything unicorn.

I also will to use games as we answer questions. I've noticed it also helps to take a little pressure off of some of my more shyer students and it's fun. Win-Win! Here are some ideas:

I hope that helped you get to know me a little bit more. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! I'd love to meet you for coffee and chat!
